From 2000 to 2002, he served as President of the Establishment Services group in the U.S. Canada, and he was President of the Corporate Card group from 2002 to 2005, during which time he globalized the business. Steve became the companys Chief Information Officer in 2005 and also led the Corporate Development function, overseeing mergers and acquisitions. In 2009, Steve was named Group President and led the formation of the Global Services Group, consolidating and globalizing the companys shared services functions. Over the course of his career at American Express, Steve: Brought together separate divisions supporting small businesses, middle market firms and large companies to form the Commercial Services Group, which today represents 40 percent of overall Card Member spending. Led companywide reengineering efforts that lowered operating expenses and reallocated investment resources to many of the initiatives that are now driving the companys growth. Reorganized the companys Global Business Travel group into a joint venture, with access to additional investment resources to grow the business and support our commercial customers. Oversaw the transformation of the Technology group into an agile resource that is driving product and service innovations across the business. Combined stand-alone, regional operations into the Global Servicing Network that provides award winning service to customers around the world. Helped transform the Merchant Services group from a travel entertainment network into one that supports the everyday spending needs of our Card Members, and pioneered early partnerships with third parties to sign new merchants. Before joining American Express, Steve spent four years as a management consultant at Arthur Andersen and Company. ![]() Steve currently sits on the Board of Trustees of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, The Valerie Fund and Manhattan College, and he is a member of the Board of Governors for Monsignor McClancy Memorial High School. He previously served on the boards of J.Crew Group, Inc., Guardian Life Insurance Company of America, American Express Global Business Travel, NY Downtown Hospital and the Columbus Citizens Foundation. Mr. Baltimore is also the former President and Chief Executive Officer of RLJ Lodging Trust, one of the largest publicly traded lodging real estate investment trusts in the country. Previously, Mr. Baltimore was President of hospitality investment firm RLJ Development LLC, the predecessor to RLJ Lodging Trust. Earlier in his career, Mr. Baltimore served in a variety of roles at Hilton Hotels Corp., Marriott International Inc., and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. Ambassador Barshefsky is a former U.S. Trade Representative and a former member of President Clintons Cabinet, where she served as chief trade negotiator and principal trade policymaker for the United States, negotiating complex market access, regulatory, and investment agreements with virtually every major country in the world. Ambassador Barshefsky is a trustee of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Mr. Brennan is the former CEO, CFO and Chairman of the Board of The Vanguard Group, Inc., the former Chairman of the Board of Governors of The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), and the former Chairman of the Financial Accounting Foundation. Mr. Brennan is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Notre Dame; the Chairman of the Vanguard Charitable Endowment Program and a founding trustee of King Abdullah University of Science and Technology. Mr. Chernin is the former President, Chief Operating Officer and director of News Corporation and the former Chairman and CEO of the Fox Group, where he oversaw the global operations of the companys film, television, satellite cable and digital media businesses.
